My parents and I decided that to continue my education, it would be wise to go to a school after homeschooling for many years and so we chose Hope. My three years at Hope helped me immensely to grow, both as a person and as a student. One of the main things it has taught me is time management, which was one thing that homeschooling didn't do for me. Hope also taught me how to just get up in the morning and go somewhere every day, which is something that I really didn't get at home. I've met a lot of great people along the way, great teachers, and some good friends. It's been a ride, and I think I'm ready for the rest of my life now.
Clara Quade, Class of '17
I was at HCA thirteen years, collecting memories, facing challenges, celebrating successes, and experiencing growth. And, thirteen years of being impacted by the faculty & students at HCA. Regardless of whether we mean to influence others, our actions & attitudes certainly will have an impact, whether big or small. Even when I don’t realize it, other people are observing my words and actions.
For this reason, I am thankful to have spent the last thirteen, very formative, years of my life at a school where the influences were set within a God-honoring environment…and one in which I myself was allowed to grow into a Christian role model, while receiving grace when my example wasn’t what God wanted. All of us, whether, parents, grandparents, children, teachers, or students, are called by God to let our light so shine before men that they may see our good works and praise our Father in Heaven.
Juhee Kwon, Class of '11
Hi. My name is Juhee Kwon. I’m an international student from South Korea. This is my sixth year in Minnesota and I spent my first three years in Hope Christian Academy. I really loved Hope Christian Academy because this school shows how wonderful you are. When I came here, I was very shy. I didn’t know what I am good at and what I can do better. However, teachers and friends encouraged me again and again. People showed what God’s love is through loving each other. I learned how to enjoy my life and to love others. Then, naturally, I could find what are my strengths. Also, we had daily devotions and weekly chapels. They helped me to be closer to God. These experiences made me to be more patient and be better at self-control. Moreover, PACEs are good to pace your own learning speed. This school has the great system of education.
Overall, I strongly recommend this school to young friends because there are great teachers who are very caring about students and nice friends who also are learning what Christ-like life is with you. There are many different activities you can participate in. You can learn, run, sing, pray, and enjoy! I have so many good memories in this school. I hope many other young friends also can trust their teachers and classmates because I could in Hope Christian Academy.

My wife and I live in Owensville, MO and have 4 kids now. The oldest is 14 and the youngest is 2 years old. Emilee is 14 and a freshman in high school. She plays the guitar and sings on the praise team at church. Jeremiah is 11 and plays football and the piano. Benjamin is 9 and plays basketball and baseball. The youngest is Grace and she is two years old. When Amy and I first got married (been married since June 1, 1991....at least I think that's the right date....hahaha) we preached at a Christian church in Granite City, Illinois for a couple of years. We actually started out as the youth minister and then moved into the senior ministry. I graduated from St. Louis Christian college with a BS in Preaching Ministry.
I got laid off at the Chrysler plant where I spent the last 13 years. I am now in a Master of Arts in Counseling program at Covenant Theological Seminary in St. Louis, MO. It is a two year track and will allow me to be a Licensed Practical counselor. I am now preaching every week at the First Christian Church in Houston, MO on an interim basis. I hope to combine the counseling degree with my ministry degree and then be able to enhance the ways in which I can serve God. God has been good to Amy and I and has blessed us in ways which we could not expect.
Paula Holmbeck (Larson), Class of '84
I graduated in 1984 with Elaine, Ed, and Dan -- a small class of only 4, but loads of fun memories with those guys! I have many memories of many people while at PGCA; sometimes a face will come to my mind and I'll wonder whatever happened to that person or where they are now.
"We have four kids: two out of the house and two still at home being home schooled. We worked with Youth With A Mission in Wisconsin for 27 years. Currently, my husband is an evangelist with Oasis World ministries."
